Kirillitsa Patents a New Ultra-Supercritical Water Generator for MTT

Kirillitsa Group has developed and patented a fundamentally new type of ultra-supercritical water generator, one of the main surface units of the MTT fleet. The generator produces a working agent for reservoir treatment at temperatures of up to 800 °C and pressures of up to 65 MPa.

The new generator offers several significant advantages over existing steam generators:
  • Higher efficiency through the use of combustion gases as a heat-transfer medium and intermediate media consisting of eutectic mixtures of inorganic salts and metal alloys.
  • Reduced weight and dimensions through the use of enclosed plate heat-exchange modules with etched channels instead of heat-exchange tubes. These modules are designed for highly corrosive media at temperatures of up to 800 °C and pressures of up to 650 bar, providing highly efficient heat transfer with minimal pressure drop.
  • Another advantage of the patented generator design is a shorter manufacturing lead time combined with a longer service life of up to 35–40 years.
The generator expands the potential of MTT, making it possible to extract virtually any type of hydrocarbon, including hard-to-recover reserves, from depths of up to 5,000 meters.
