"Oil Resource" became a project partner of KFU and the Russian Science Foundation

"Oil Resource" Oil Company will act as an industrial partner of Kazan Federal University (KFU) in the framework of fundamental research co-financed by the Russian Science Foundation (RSF).

As part of the agreement between the Russian Science Foundation and Kazan Federal University, "Oil Resource", together with leading vertically integrated oil companies and oil producing companies, will provide co-financing for the implementation of comprehensive research on high-viscosity oil. The research includes various experimental physical and chemical analysis methods, mathematical calculations of fluid flow in a porous medium and quantum chemical calculations as well as kinetic and numerical modeling.

In February 2025, "Oil Resource" and the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of KFU signed a cooperation agreement. The co-financing of the research has become a new step in the framework of the oil company's cooperation with one of the country's leading scientific institutes.

The research objective is to develop new technological approaches to the catalytic underground refining of high-viscosity and ultra-heavy oil within the framework of previously developed multifluid thermal technologies. The ultimate goal of the tests is to increase the efficiency of oil production in fields with a large number of hard-to-recover oil reserves using a number of chemical agents considering the various environments characteristic of the internal state of certain Russian fields.

“In our group we have created a scientific center that has been cooperating with Kazan Federal University for a long time. Today, "Oil Resource" is actively enhancing advanced technologies in the oil and gas industry, developing and patenting new inventions designed to increase production at numerous domestic fields with significant amounts of hard-to-recover oil reserves," Director General of the Kirillitsa Group of Companies (includes "Oil Resource")

Semyon Garagul noted.

The tests will be conducted in laboratory conditions and are scheduled for 2025-2027.
