"Oil Resource" presented the MTT at the Neftegazservice-2025 conference

Deputy Director General for Technological Development of "Oil Resource" (part of Kirillitsa Group of Companies) Konstantin Prochukhan delivered a report at the 19th conference "Oil and Gas Service in Russia" (Neftegazservice — 2025) in Moscow. He spoke about innovative solutions in the field of extraction of hard-to-recover oil reserves (HTR reserves), namely, the multifluid thermal technology (MTT)

The MTT is an innovative technology for the development of hard-to-recover oil reserves which is being developed by the Scientific and Technological Center within Kirillitsa Group of Companies. This method is based on the injection of supercritical water at high temperatures (up to 550 °C) and pressure (up to 60 MPa) into an oil-bearing bed. The technology makes it possible to extract hard-to-recover oil of medium and high viscosity as well as to develop kerogen-containing beds of the Bazhenov, Domanik Formations, etc.

"The share of medium viscosity oil in total reserves is 35% while in production it is only 25%. The use of the MTT in conditions of exposure to supercritical water on viscous oil beds initiates a range of qualitatively new oil recovery mechanisms which makes it possible to involve medium-viscosity oil reserves that have not been recovered by traditional technologies in production,"

Konstantin Prochukhan noted.

The potential for an increase in annual production of medium-viscosity oil with the introduction of advanced oil recovery technologies, in particular the MTT, will reach at least 10% - up to 50 million tons per year.

Successful implementation and scaling of the MTT is possible with the implementation of a full cycle of work within the framework of high-tech oilfield service (research, engineering, oilfield service, monitoring). "Oil Resource" has exclusive rights to use the multifluid thermal technology and forms such an oilfield service.

"At the first stage, we are conducting pilot testing on our own sites. In this way, we are honing our skills and will be ready to provide the comprehensive oilfield service on the Russian market and abroad. To do this, we have not only the equipment and competencies but also the entire necessary package of patents which is currently being verified abroad including in the countries of the Persian Gulf and Latin America," "Oil Resource"

Deputy Director General for Technological Development said.
